I’ve been to Sedona, AZ, many times to visit family and to enjoy the exceptional beauty of the area. My most recent visit was at the end of April, beginning of May. I’ve never seen the desert in bloom as intensely as I drove from Phoenix north to Sedona. All the colors you can imagine.
The Village of Oak Creek
Sedona is divided into three main parts, each located several miles from the others. The southern most part is the Village of Oak Creek. You can enjoy hikes into the national forest. We enjoyed hiking the Kel Fox trail with views toward the gorgeous red rock formations, iconic Sedona.
Uptown Sedona
Uptown is full of restaurants, shops, and other attractions that can keep you busy, all while enjoying the extraordinary views. Locals avoid the area during high season, but it’s great for finding souvenirs, gifts, and enjoying a meal.
West Sedona
I enjoy the Coffee Pot restaurant in West Sedona for a great breakfast. “Residential West Sedona is full of cafes, trendy boutiques, thrift stores, and the Sedona Artist Market, showcasing local crafts. Hiking trails loop around the rugged slope of Airport Mesa and to Sedona Airport Overlook, a popular sunset viewing spot. At the foot of Thunder Mountain, Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park features Buddhist shrines and meditation sites.”
